In Christ we are new creatures--or so they say.
To be new beyond the moment,
to be new to a dead Past,
to be new indeed.

But the Past intrudes,
flesh and Spirit at war,
old ghosts
haunting the soul.

Old feelings,
old thoughts,
old movies of the mind
ruling the core.

Being honest with God
unlocks
secret chambers
of the heart.

Grasping the truth
leads
to the Truth
 Who saves.

Clutching the words
of promise
unmasks
the Word.
